Hey everyone,
I've been away for a few months getting settled in here in Reno. I've gotten back to work on my FUDGE-based Sword & Sorcery game, "Blood, Sweat & Steel".
I'm going to start having some play testing over the next couple months to dial things in and get it all finalized.
We are having an online game test Wed., starting at 4 PM PST. We use Skype for voice chat, and MapTools as our virtual tabletop.
If you'd like to join us, or just pop in to take a look, either respond here or email me at: thelevitator at gmail dot com, and I can send you everything you need to play or observe.
I currently have a nearly completed Rules pdf, an editable character sheet pdf, and a character creation guide pdf that accompanies the character sheet. There is still a lot of work to be done with the Rules pdf in regards to content, artwork, and layout, but there's enough there for us to create some characters and play out some scenarios.
PS> maharvey, if you happen to read this, I am very much interested in using the Advantage system you came up with for modifiers, for my game. I'm hoping to get your blessing on that. |

I don't remember exactly what you're referring to, but you're welcome to use anything I've written. |

It was a way of using Advantages by combining "+" or "-" modifiers along with ignoring certain die results.
It looks like this (I expanded it a bit for completeness for my Rules):
6 Advantages = +3
5 Advantages = +2, and ignore 1 "-" die
4 Advantages = +2
3 Advantages = +1, and ignore 1 "-" die
2 Advantages = +1
1 Advantage = ignore 1 "-" die
1 Disadvantage = ignore 1 "+" die
2 Disadvantages = -1
3 Disadvantages = -1, and ignore 1 "+" die
4 Disadvantages = -2
5 Disadvantages = -2, and ignore 1 "+" die
6 Disadvantages = -3
By having all of the game modifiers as either Advantages or Disadvantages, it's really quick and easy to tally them up, to get a total, and the formula is easy to remember and use.
My plan is to use this for everything except damage. I'm trying to rework my Magic system to incorporate the Advantage/Disadvantage system as well.
Let me know if you'd ever like to see it all in action. I'm starting to play test my game weekly. We are having a session tonight, starting at 4 pm PST. It's an online session using Skype for voice chat, and MapTools as our virtual tabletop and die roller.
If you are on Skype, my handle is: thelevitator
Thanks again Mike! |

| Maharvey, you really should play if you can. A lot of your stuff went in to this, and thelevitator is a good or great GM. Maybe superb. |

Oh Pshaw Knaight......
I would be blown away, and likely pretty nervous, if maharvey joined in a session, considering the inspiration I've gotten from his ideas. I still get nervous when you play Knaight, because none of my other players have any experience with FUDGE. |

| Heh. Sounds like some of the people in my tabletop group, although its less of a rules thing and more of a storytelling capability thing (and people judging themselves too harshly, but that beats the people who have a magnified view of their own ability, so its not that bad.) |

Just a quick heads up. We're going to try again to have a one-shot adventure on Monday the 29th, starting around 4 pm PST. Last week was a logistical nightmare with the holidays and end of year stuff, so I wasn't sure about trying to have a session next week. But I have a couple people from the Mongoose Conan D20 site interested in taking a look at my game.
I've got 3 people confirmed for Monday and if Knaight can make it, that would be 4, so there's room for a few more.
Anyone interested can respond here or PM and I can get you all the information you need to join us! |
